Alexa Q&A

How Alexa Answers Guest Questions with Custom Content

Alexa answers countless questions daily, but how can you ensure it responds accurately to queries specific to your property or hospitality services? The secret lies in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), an advanced AI technology.

At AIPEX, we train an NLU model on extensive datasets covering a vast range of hospitality topics and the myriad ways guests might phrase their questions. This comprehensive training results in millions of potential question-and-answer combinations. Our intelligent system links these guest inquiries directly to the personalized content you provide.

This tailored knowledge is packaged into a specialized Alexa "skill," effectively expanding Alexa's existing knowledge base with your unique insights and details. Through our partnership with Amazon, we utilize a powerful feature called Name Free Invocation (NFI). NFI acts as a seamless gateway, allowing Alexa to tap directly into the AIPEX skill whenever a guest question aligns with the information you've prepared.

When Alexa recognizes a guest's query as something our skill can handle, NFI instantly routes the inquiry to the AIPEX skill. Our system then responds with your custom content and proactively keeps the session open by asking, "What else can I help with?" This encourages guests to continue interacting naturally without needing to re-trigger the skill through NFI each time.

It's worth noting, though, that while NFI is effective, its accuracy is even higher once a guest is within the AIPEX skill session. When guests signal they're done—by saying something like "that's all"—the skill session concludes. At this point, Alexa returns to answering broader, non-hospitality queries, such as weather forecasts or general knowledge questions.

This seamless integration of custom content into Alexa's response system enriches the guest experience, making interactions more natural and your hospitality more responsive.
