How to Reconnect Your Alexa Device to Wi-Fi

How to Reconnect Your Alexa Device to Wi-Fi

If your Alexa device isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi—or you're trying to change the network it connects to, this guide from AIPEX Technologies will walk you through getting your Echo Show or other Alexa device back online.

🛠️ Method 1: Tap the Wi-Fi Icon to Connect Manually

If your device shows a "no Wi-Fi" icon:

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi icon on the top-right corner of the screen. It may give you an option to choose a new wifi network. If so:

  2. Select your desired Wi-Fi network.

  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password.

  4. Wait for the device to reconnect.

📱 Method 2: Use a Mobile Hotspot to Restore Connection

If you can’t change the Wi-Fi network on the device because it’s already associated with a property and offline, use this method:

Step-by-Step:

  1. Turn on your smartphone's Wi-Fi Hotspot.

  2. Set the Hotspot SSID (network name) and password to match the original Wi-Fi network the Alexa device was connected to.

  3. Stay on the Hotspot screen so your phone keeps broadcasting the network.

  4. Reboot your Alexa device.

  5. Wait 5–15 minutes for the device to reconnect automatically.

Once the device is online again, visit the AIPEX Portal:

  • Go to Account > Alexa Devices

  • Click "Unassociate" under the device's actions

  • Once unassociated, you can update the Wi-Fi under the device's Settings menu

🆘 Alternative: Use AIPEX’s Recovery Wi-Fi Network

If you don’t remember the original Wi-Fi details:

  1. In the AIPEX portal, go to Account > Settings > WiFi Settings.

  2. Click "Recovery WiFi" to reveal fallback credentials.

  3. Set up a Wi-Fi network (via a router or mobile Hotspot) using the exact Network Name and Password provided.

  4. Reboot your Alexa device. It should connect automatically.

Once connected, follow the same steps to unassociate and reconfigure the WiFi on the device.

🔄 Another Option for Future Reference: Change Wi-Fi Without Unassociating the Device

When you device is online and associated to a property, you can add multiple WiFi networks to the device's memory, so that you can move it between locations.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to Account > Settings > WiFi Settings in the AIPEX portal.

  2. Click “Add WiFi Configuration.”

  3. Enter the new network name (SSID) and password.

  4. The new credentials are securely sent to the device using Amazon's WiFi Locker system.

  5. Your device will attempt to reconnect using the updated info.
